World Premiere Experience Set for September 6th

Featuring a concert by Jake Hamilton & The Sound, the HOLY GHOST World Premiere Experience will be a one-time, live global event on September 6th in which anyone anywhere can see the film—for free.

Funded by 2,500 investors who surged to support Director Darren Wilson’s Kickstarter campaign, HOLY GHOST raised a record-breaking $360,000 in just 45 days to become the #1 most-funded, faith-based film in Kickstarter history. The film’s producers, who turned to fans to fund HOLY GHOST, are now asking 25,000 of their most deeply dedicated fans to crowd-market and promote it with the launch of a new #HolyGhostExperience social media campaign.

“Our fans crowd-funded HOLY GHOST, and now they’re our mass marketing and promotion team around the world. That’s why #HolyGhostExperience has gained instant traction, because tens of thousands are working to bring this project across the finish line,” said Braden Heckman, CEO of Wanderlust Productions. “Every day the HOLY GHOST team is working with supporters to spread the word by setting up events, signing up their friends, and engaging within their spheres of influence to give as many people as possible the opportunity to experience this movie.”

#HolyGhostExperience puts the consumer in the driver’s seat, empowering fans to take unlimited steps to promote the World Premiere Experience. Fans have the opportunity to participate by engaging in as many as five easy, seven moderate, and two challenging promotional tasks plus a daily, bonus challenge posed by the HOLY GHOST social media team. These include:

  1. Share the Trailer: Show the trailer in local churches..
  2. Enlist Churches to Join: Recruit their church to participate in the HOLY GHOST World Premiere Experience on September 6th. Nearly 600 churches around the world have signed up to date.
  3. Bring the Film to More Theaters: Create demand for HOLY GHOST to be shown in movie theaters using the demand-first distribution website Tugg. Almost 60 theaters have signed on purely by popular demand.
  4. Host a Screening Party: Host a HOLY GHOST house party.
  5. Invite Friends: Encourage 10 people to see the World Premiere Experience.
  6. Donate Accounts: Lend their social media accounts to HOLY GHOST to automatically send Tweets and Facebook posts about the movie.
  7. Fund the Marketing: Give $10 for 1,000 more people to see the trailer.
  8. Send to a Stranger: Pre-purchase the DVD and send it to a randomly selected person in the U.S.

Earlier in August, Wanderlust Productions offered select fans an exclusive, paid Advance Premiere of HOLY GHOST just weeks before the free global release. The data from the pre-screening—using the new online video platform VHX—indicates the following:

  • More than 21,000 people paid to see HOLY GHOST four weeks early.
  • Nearly 72% of Advance Premiere purchases came from social media.
  • Nearly half of viewers used mobile devices—such as an iPhone, iPad or Android device—to watch HOLY GHOST.
  • A significant percentage of Advance Premier participants watched HOLY GHOST more than once.
  • 45% of viewers—nearly half—were from outside the United States.

Rather than pursuing a traditional theatrical or direct-to-home entertainment release, Wanderlust Productions is staging a one-time, World Premiere Experience on September 6th during which fans from all over the world will have the opportunity to view HOLY GHOST directly on any digital device, free of charge. Wanderlust believes that the one-time, 48-hour event will attract viewers from all over the world, drive subsequent VOD and DVD purchases, and result in strong profitability for the project. This will enable instant reinvestment in the next project, due out in the fall of 2015.

Rather than pursuing a traditional theatrical or direct-to-home entertainment release, Wanderlust Productions is staging a one-time, world premiere event on September 6th during which fans from all over the world will have the opportunity to view HOLY GHOST directly on any digital device, free of charge. The film’s producers – banking on a rapidly surging social media campaign (in which 2.4 million have already seen the trailer) and a dedicated fan base from their first three film offerings – believe that the one-time, global event will attract viewers from all over the world and drive future VOD and DVD purchases.

Wanderlust already has preliminary data to support its innovative distribution model. Last week, the company partnered with the direct-to-fan, high quality video platform VHX to offer an exclusive pre-screening of the film. Despite the fact the film will be offered for free in just a month’s time, tens of thousands of fans signed up and paid $5 to see it early. And of those who viewed the pre-screening, a significant number did so multiple times.

Metrics Demonstrate Viability of New Model

  • Nearly half the people who watched the exclusive pre-release of HOLY GHOST saw it on mobile devices, and just 55% of purchases were in the United States.
  • 430 churches are already signed up to show the film on the upcoming U.S. Premiere Tour immediately following the September 6th World Premiere event.
  • Fueled by popular demand from Tugg – a website that empowers consumers to bring a film to their local theatre – 44 theaters are already signed up to show HOLY GHOST and many more are expected.

Polling Indicates HOLY GHOST will succeed

A recent, widely publicized Christian News Service survey by American Insights for the upcoming historical thriller film NICAEA indicates a strong interest in “films that explore questions about God.” This survey was conducted May 1-8, 2014 on a randomly selected, representative nationwide sample of 1,200 adults. It was conducted via landline (50%), cell phone (20%) and online panel (30%). The margin of error is +/- 2.8%.

  • 80% of Faith Driven Consumers are likely to see a movie that explores questions about God. 43% are very likely to see such a movie
  • 68% of Faith Driven Consumers at least occasionally see movies that explore questions about God. 22% frequently see such movies
  • 49% of Faith Driven Consumers would go to movies more often if there were more movies that explored questions about God
  • 65% of Faith Driven Consumers would invite a non-Christian friend to see a movie that explores questions about God
